Re: 64 biit Graphical diff module sought [Solved]
Actually, might have 'cracked' the problem myself .... Looks like I can download slackware version of meld at v1.8.2 Then using usm, install pygtk .... which resolves to 3 packages (pycairo, pygobject & pygtk) ... meld then runs, albeit with some errors. Being lazy, have defined an alias for meld th...

64 bit Graphical diff module sought [Solved]
Hi Anyone able to point me to a graphical difference module that I can install under a 64-bit XFCE porteus installation? I guess possible choices include meld, tkdiff, diffmerge, vimdiff, xxdiff, gtkdiff and kcompare ... however, not sure I'm meant to use kcompare under XFCE? Would I then need all o...

Re: Wireshark
Have now had a chance to look at ... with success!! Thank you cttan ... links and downloads worked. In fact, I only needed wireshark-1.12.2-x86_64-2_slack.xzm and gtk+3-3.8.2-x86_64-2.xzm in the end to make wireshark work. (Note: Downloaded gtk module using usm). And also thank you to go2null ... un...

Re: Wireshark
Many thanks cttan for such a quick and helpful response!
No time to try it today, but will post back whether it solved my problems when I do.
I feel very positive that it will do the job though!
Cheers John

Possible problem with FireWall with Changes Active?
Possibly there is an issue with the FireWall . I have a 64-bit XFCE build with changes active (i.e. Saving everything) If I turn on the FireWall under Porteus Settings Centre, this results in an edit to the file /etc/rc.d/rc4.d/S-firewall.sh As one would expect, this then gets saved across a reboot ...

Wireshark [Solved]
Have been struggling to get an appropriate set of files to install a set of modules to allow wireshark to run. I know there is some information on this site regarding wireshark and how people have done it in the past. But if anyone has created a 64-bit package for Wireshark (that includes the essent...

Re: UEFI Boot Confusion
I now feel very embarrassed  I had not realised that the grey screen actually contained icons that could be pushed. And I had not realised that the Left hand icon was the Windows icon + Right hand was Porteus. (Even more embarrassed!) Now that I select the Right Hand icon .... it correctly ent...

Re: UEFI Boot Confusion
Many thanks to both cttan & brokenman for your replies. Tried both & unfortunately (surprisingly?) neither made any difference. Still have problems. Hopefully, if I give a few more details, further answers may be possible: I have 2 computers available at work (currently) that appear to have UEFI 'su...

UEFI Boot Confusion [Solved]
Have done a lot of reading about booting Porteus with UEFI firmware … but unsure of the complete process that is required to create a bootable (from UEFI firmware) v3.1 Porteus USB Stick. An idiots guide would be really useful to me (and potentially others?) I am aware that there are videos, tutoria...

Re: Subversion v1.7.6 (or any release of 1.7)
Continue to be grateful to all contributors to this post. Had a quick look at svnkit ... certainly looks interesting. However, another thing for me to learn, so going to stick where I am for the moment! Just in case it's of any interest to anyone, had to update the apr modules as well ... found that...

Re: Subversion v1.7.6 (or any release of 1.7)
Thanks bigbass Just for reference (perhaps?) ... I have got SVN running now. Had to download a number of tgz files from slackfind.net ... picking the current Slackware set of files (is this allowed? Seemed to work!) In total, the modules I now have (to make SVN work) are: apr-util-1.3.4-i486-1.xzm a...

Re: Subversion v1.7.6 (or any release of 1.7)
Hi Brokenman Many Thanks for a very quick reply. I'm struggling to find all the dependencies now though - perhaps you know where to find it quickly. subversion requires: - libaprutil-1.so.0 ... found that in same place as I did for subversion 1.6.16 (in apr-util-1.3.4-i486-1.tgz) - libapr-1.so.0 (sa...

Subversion v1.7.6 (or any release of 1.7)
I'd really appreciate someone who knows what they are doing building an xzm module for the latest version of subversion. Currently, I believe the latest version available for Porteus is v1.6.16 (I have looked through all the sources I am aware of) The latest shown on the Apache website is v1.7.6 If ...
