you appear to be trying to reinvent the wheel.
most of what you mention is already covered various existing scripts in porteus.

my usual way is mount the device in /mnt/arch cd /mnt/arch/boot and run the linux-installer and the path of installer where start the script is /mnt/arch not /dev/sdx :) ..i can only suggest to mount /dev/sdx in /mnt/sdx but setup-pman do not save the module tell me that /etc/pacman.d directory do ...
