porteus-v4.0-x86_64.cfg ignores changes

curiously, this topic: Followed the Save.dat Manager tutorial and It's Still Not Working? seems to suggest otherwise..
even though jssouzas reasoning appears sound..
this one: cannot save changes [solved] may also be related, with nemesis config folder/files a little different..

Bluetooth Connection using Terminal

ok, base modules updated with added bluez, bluez-openrc, bluez-utils, bluez-tools, and libical.. didn't have much luck with bluez-tools, so included bluez-utils which seems to be working.. after starting the bluetooth service: [guest@porteus ~]$ bluetoothctl Agent registered [bluetooth]# power on Ch...

Touchpad tap function: pointers.xml file :saved setting this is fine if you happen to have a "SYNA7DB500_06CB7DB7_Touchpad" but might not work for other hardware.. in the latest update (2018-04-17) i've added /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf and 30-touchpad.conf in 002-gui that should enable ...

cannot save changes [solved]

changes=EXIT:/porteus/profiles/xfce Do I miss something? i checked and EXIT: is implemented in initrd for nemesis (but could be broken somehow) maybe try more path: Examples: changes=EXIT:/dev/device changes=EXIT:/path/ changes=EXIT:UUID:STrING-0F-ChARACtERS/path/file.dat so if your device is sdb1 ...

Bluetooth Connection using Terminal

possibly it's bluez libs being out of date ..
i guess there was more pulled in with bluez-openrc and bluez-tools (namely bluez and libical)
give me a day or two and i'll update the base modules and maybe include the bluez stack..

Lynx desktop files - using a text-browser efficiently

Man, I'm even wondering about a "lynx-friendly" hypertext system doc - so you can read it from a OFFLINE shell-only environment
check:

Code: Select all

lynx /usr/doc/Porteus-FAQ/index.html
or with a 'normal' browser..
warning: some of these docs are horribly out of date..

snapd on nemesis

as it says here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Snap#Usage Note: If AppArmor isn't enabled in your system then all snaps will run in devel mode which mean they will have same, unrestricted access to your system as apps installed from Arch Linux repositories. so apparmour is optional but afaiui,...

I'm confused. So where did you specify the location of the porteussave.dat file and with what parms??
they're using <USB>/porteus/porteus-v4.0-x86_64.cfg
with, apparently: changes=/mnt/sdb/porteus/porteussave.dat
if i understand correctly

Followed the Save.dat Manager tutorial and It's Still Not Working?

i wonder.. is this a case of conflict between boot/syslinux/porteus.cfg APPEND line and porteus/porteus-v4.0-x86_64.cfg
because the default boot/syslinux/porteus.cfg APPEND line says: changes=/porteus
i would think that bit needs to be removed if you're using porteus-v4.0-x86_64.cfg ..
