Which VPN provider do you recommend located in Europe?

Post#1 by francois » 23 Mar 2017, 02:19

I have tried expressvpn, it did not really act like a private tunnel. There seems to be restricted access for the access of France or US servers to these countries usual content.
Which VPN provider do you recommend located in Europe? Amongst other things, I would like to watch webtv. :)

Beny, what is your advice?

http://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn have a German location.

BTW have to be careful, even with this vpn managed to download 3.7 GiB yesterday without effort, and easily exceed bandwidth limit of 100G in month.

This is ok for me. I found an internet provider which as a plan for a few extra dollars that permits illimited download.

How come openvpn is free, is it slower than paying vpn like expressvpn and the like?

Be careful with free vpn's and make sure you don't log into your bank account or email addresses as they are not as innocent and free as they might like you to think.

this site details problems with the free Hola VPN for example.

http://adios-hola.org
Hola is harmful to the internet as a whole, and to its users in particular. You might know it as a free VPN or "unblocker", but in reality it operates like a poorly secured botnet - with serious consequences.
Also if you google VpnBook freevpn honeypot your see malicious activity with the logs dating back years , so if your in a country where streaming and Kodi is illegal than all you are doing is building up a permanent log that the VPN will freely hand over if requested.

Got to install http://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn openvpn on porteus, you get opnvpn with usm. The thing works fine, the problem is that the speed is very slow. Probably not enough for streaming. Any fair proposition will be accepted.

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest/Downloads# openvpn --config vpnbook-us1-tcp443.ovpn

Problem is that you are in the Phillipines, and the connection there must be very slow. :D Being in Canada one gets a top speed of over 400 Kb/sec. Recommended min streaming speed is 64 Kb/sec. Bottleneck always seems to be file sharing sites, fluctuating around 120 Kb/sec +/- 100. :(
