Searching for symbolic links:
usr/bin/firefox	/usr/lib64/firefox-53.0b5/firefox
usr/lib64/firefox	./firefox-53.0b5

Making symbolic link creation script:
( cd usr/bin ; rm -rf firefox )
( cd usr/bin ; ln -sf /usr/lib64/firefox-53.0b5/firefox firefox )
( cd usr/lib64 ; rm -rf firefox )
( cd usr/lib64 ; ln -sf ./firefox-53.0b5 firefox )

It is recommended that you make these lines your new installation script.

Would you like to make this stuff the install script for this package
and remove the symbolic links ([y]es, [n]o)? y

Removing symbolic links:
removed './usr/bin/firefox'
removed './usr/lib64/firefox'

Creating your new ./install/doinst.sh...

This next step is optional - you can set the directories in your package
to some sane permissions. If any of the directories in your package have
special permissions, then DO NOT reset them here!

Would you like to reset all directory permissions to 755 (drwxr-xr-x) and
directory ownerships to root.root ([y]es, [n]o)? n

I prefer non-beta versions. And brokenman said that versions put in the /tmp folder would be used rather than downloaded versions.

So, rather than using the Linux file shown in:

https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla. ... es/52.0.1/

we need to use the file shown in:

https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla. ... _64/en-US/

or the one here if you need to run Java apps:

https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla. ... _64/en-US/

:Yahoo!:

Who knew!! :pardon:

This isn't the 1st Firefox module I've created, so how did I not run into this before?? :Search:

Fixed coding error. Thank you Evan.
StartupNotify=true

If that's added to the bottom then you get a spinning loading disk when you click the shortcut.

/var/log/packages/kde-baseapps-16.08.3-x86_64-1alien:usr/lib64/libkonq.so.5.14.26
Just threw up 2 packages out of the list of missing dependencies. This could have its explanation in this post: viewtopic.php?f=117&t=6430&p=51284&hili ... 436#p51284
pretty interesting since I do not have /var/log/packages/libgphoto* but I have /var/log/packages/kde-baseapps-16.08.3-x86_64-1alien telling exactly the same:

Code: Select all

# ls /var/log/packages/libgphoto*
/bin/ls: cannot access '/var/log/packages/libgphoto*': No such file or directory

# grep libkonq.so /var/log/packages/kde-baseapps-16.08.3-x86_64-1alien
usr/lib64/libkonq.so.5.14.26
But it seems /var/log/packages is a pretty lier since I don't have libkonq.so.* in my system:

Code: Select all

# ls /usr/lib64/libkonq*
/bin/ls: cannot access '/usr/lib64/libkonq*': No such file or directory
and this is what I expect since there's no libkonq.so.* in 003-kde5.zxm base module:

Code: Select all

# xzm2dir $PORTDIR/base/003-kde5.xzm /tmp/t
# cd /tmp/t
# ls usr/lib64/libkonq*
/bin/ls: cannot access 'usr/lib64/libkonq*': No such file or directory
# find . -xdev -name 'libkonq*'
What's happening here? My guess is slackware packages (txz or similar) used to build 003-kde5.xzm module were not properly changed, in particular the list of packages was not edited to delete those files removed from final module. This way we end with an unuseful installed packages log or a lier packages log as you could experiment by yourself, so this way double fail, first needed libraries are not included in base 003-kde5 module and second package content log says they are installed in the system (both packages which is true *and* libraries which is not), thus bad news for advanced users ;-)

Are you searching for a library file?
 libakonadi-contact.so.4 was found in kdepimlibs-4.14.10-x86_64-2.txz
# ... EDITED OUTPUT ...
nice feature, I didn't know usm could detect searchs of library files... so I'm going to look for packages of every missing dep but the problem here still is unresolved, it's not a matter to manually install missing deps but 003-kde5 module including all self needed deps

Also I have a question here, if usm can detect when you look for a library file rather than a general string, why don't include a "resolve deps" option? something like

Code: Select all

 # usm -p file-name
 file-name was found in package.txz

Alien Bob has a current folder that never changes so i think it would be best if the script could be pointed to his 32/64 bit version.

There're performance issue in KDE5 version.

Sometimes plasmashell keeps using 100% of CPU and a quite big amount of memory (5.6% MEM) in such situation everything freezes and becomes very slow I cannot even raise an opened windows by clicking on its name in bottom bar or raise and focus by click on window's title or area.

Also sometimes after a long wait iddle, session manager screen appears but not the common kde5 session window but a rather weird one more Xorg-style, when I choose my current user to restart session it really opens a new session and I cannot see any of my opened apps, then I have to do a "switch user" to switch to my current user (the same one!) and then I get all my apps, but now it seems there're two sessions running and I can switch between them seeing a completely different set of apps running.

solution: kill the plasmashell process and restart it (but not a desiderable solution anyway! ;)

there's not a clear solution, I do a chain of switching user invocation selecting always user guest until I see all my opened apps. I have to say all running programs are in fact running even when you don't see them (they windows) in kde session because you "ps aux" shows them all
