1. In pkgtool find aaa_elflibs - 2 packages installed with messed files

As you can see there 2 packages registered in Slackware package system pkgtool - aaa_elflibs-14.2-i586 and aaa_elflibs-14.2-i586-jay.
The size is different 14 and 18 Mb.
2. mencoder is removed from mplayer beckause of the size. If you need mencoder you can get the full version through usm.
I understand. And mplayer under 4.8.7 works perfect - no error with libs.

The 12 Nov Porteus release is taking 2 min 25 sec to boot up on my machine timed from the moment the power switch is on, or about 2 min 5 sec from when the 10 second delay finishes, which much longer than the rc5 release.

In the menu: Applications|System Tools|P7ZIP File manager is not working. Upon further investigation, I find that when trying to start 7zFM manually, I get the following error message:
/usr/lib/p7zip/7zFM: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk2u_richtext-2.8.so.0 cannot open shared object file: No such file.

Any chance you can upload your /var/log folder so I can investigate? Another person reported this 2 minute wait.

I inspected his logs and it seems to be because of an external monitor. In this case perhaps a custom xorg.conf file is required.

I do not have an external monitor. It's running on a laptop.

Just for comparison, I have just booted 3.2 rc5 32-bit MATE, and timed how long it takes to boot - 55 seconds on the same machine.

I don't know if this has any bearing on the matter, but Porteus is booting up a little differently to the way we are accustomed to.

During the boot: I am seeing in large text listing all the modules etc to be loaded - then a small delay.
Then in smaller text: Porteus is up and running etc (but only shows very briefly on the screen - no more than 1 or 2 seconds).
Then a long delay with a blank screen while the desktop loads.

My take on this is that up to and including rc5, boot was the way accustomed to, but now on 3.2 boot is different?

No change in the way Porteus boots. [Removed false line about including Xorg-1.19] The text goes smaller once the graphics card has kicked in. In the logs I am sure I saw two separate displays. Let me take another look.

3. May be it is not bug at all - may be I do something wrong - but better to check.

My codepage is not UTF-8. Python 2.7 - from 07-print module

When I build module with python modules which depends on python for ex. gimp - it builded OK.
When i start application it says:

Can you find a version for slackware? slackware-current is using this version.

About gimp. Can you please install the standard slackware python3 and see if gimp runs?

Thanks Philip. I am still puzzled by this slow boot. I now believe it is graphics card related. Do you and Jack have the same hardware by chance? Both using i965 driver?
