I just try wine and here is my output what I did.

If you just type wine.

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ wine
bash: /usr/bin/wine: No such file or directory
guest@porteus:~$ su
Password:
root@porteus:/home/guest# wine
bash: /usr/bin/wine: No such file or directory
root@porteus:/home/guest#
But if you type wine64.

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ wine64
Usage: wine PROGRAM [ARGUMENTS...] Run the specified program
wine --help Display this help and exit
wine --version Output version information and exit
wine --patches Output patch information and exit
wine --check-libs Checks if shared libs are installed
guest@porteus:~$
Here is what USM install in Mate x86_64 v3.2 rc5

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:/tmp/usm/wine-1.9.15$ ls
gd-2.2.1-x86_64-1.txz
libgphoto2-2.5.10-x86_64-1.txz
openal-soft-1.17.2-x86_64-2gv.txz
wine-1.9.15-x86_64-1alien.txz
wine-1.9.15-x86_64-bundle.xzm
guest@porteus:/tmp/usm/wine-1.9.15$
But I'm not sure what to do with it.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

If 64bit version runs as the same as my 32bit. Just run the .exe installers or portable .exe applications. When installed they showed show under Wine in the start menu you have. I had to scroll down in menu to see the option on mine but doesn't show till a Windows program is installed.
New to Linux but learning. Hoping to help out Porteus community. :)

When I ran this wine64 t6recalibrate.exe it wanted to install wine mono installer then wine gecko installer. Here is the output.

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ wine64 t6recalibrate.exe
wine: created the configuration directory '/home/guest/.wine'

I take it the program has to be install? But in my case that program don't need to be installed cause it was just extracted file in a directory. In windows all needs to be done is just click on it and it runs.

Any idea and I hope it can be fixed cause it is one program for my Transmitter for my Quadcopter.

In my old Porteus KDE4 3.1-64bits installation I have installed wine with success...
My modules section has a Wine folder containing:
-wine-1,7.42-x86_64
-wine-geko-2.36-x86_64
-wine-mono-4.5.6-1-x86_64
-cabextract-1.4-x86_64-1-SBo
-winetricks-20150416-noarch-1-SBo
myWineConf.xzm (as I run as root in AF mode, this module configures wine by every startup).

Not all wine programs run ok, but most do. I have installed River2D-0.95-wineXP-1wre, sap2000-7.12-wineXP-1wre, section-wineXP-1wre, and the bomber little game. I could not install Autocad 2006 as yet, I am still trying...

Wine is a complex game and you must have lots of patience to get it running, especially to get 32 bits application to run in 64 bits machine...

Contrary to my original opinion, virus vulnerability of wine seems to be zero!

Good luck! :)
Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).
