I always used to log in as Root as using Guest felt like trying to drive a car from the back seat but over the last few Months while playing about with different distro's i've got into the habit of using the su:password command from guest and so far i've had no reason to log directly back into Root...

I have seen some people that support the removal of Root accounts from linux claim that it's becoming more widespread for applications to be setup as standard that they will not start from Root but i never had that problem when i was using Root , just damn annoying banners in applications reminding me i was using the Root account.

@ Evan:
A heated thread the topic of root mode https://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php ... 4&start=30

Have a look peculiarly at markds posts for an alternate opinion, which is based on decenies of experience in computer security. These debates are tough on membership. We lost phppro as a supporter.

Though for those with some flexibility of thoughts there is opportunity to grow intellectually and transcendentally thru debates that we hope to rest on facts, for others door slamming is alas the final and radical argument.
Carpe diem.

Edited my last post to add marks opinion on security and my opinion on debates and their positive outcomes.
