[SOLVED] ...Shared library errors

Post#1 by fullmoonremix » 04 Jul 2016, 14:54

Question: ...is 001-core missing something? :unknown:

I stripped out /mnt/~/porteus/base/ "modules" (002-*.* & 003-*.*) in Porteus rc4.

When logged in and entering mc (Midnight Commander) I got this error...

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/mc: error while loading shared libraries: libgmodule.2.0.so.0: No such file or directory
This error is corrected with... glib2-2.46.2-x86_64-1.xzm

@ boot I got these errors...

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/NetworkManager: error while loading shared libraries: libnss3.so: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/NetworkManager: error while loading shared libraries: libsoup-2.4.so.1: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/NetworkManager: error while loading shared libraries: libxml2.so.2: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/NetworkManager: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.56: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/NetworkManager: error while loading shared libraries: libfam.so.0: No such file or directory
These errors were corrected with...

mozilla-nss-3.23-x86_64-1.xzm
libsoup-2.52.2-x86_64-2.xzm
libxml2-2.9.4-x86_64-2.xzm
icu4-56.1-x86_64-2.xzm
gamin-0.1.10-x86_64-0.xzm

After correcting the above referenced errors @ boot I got this error...

Code: Select all

/usr/sbin/NetworkManager: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/NetworkManager: unidentified symbol: g_key_file_save_to_file
-PROBLEM? :unknown:

This seems to be intentional... the missing referenced files are found in 002-xorg

If this is the case then... either these files should be in 001-core (minimal bloating) or NetworkManager
should be in 002-xorg (the latter would render Lynx browser and USM useless in 001-core.xzm)

Perhaps these files (@ /etc/NetworkManager/VPN/) are the answer?

nm-openvpn-service.name
nm-vpnc-service.name

They contained this comment in line one...

Code: Select all

# This file is obsoleted by a file in /usr/lib/NetworkManager/VPN
...perhaps the problem is deprecation?

-SOLUTION? :unknown:

@ /usr/lib/NetworkManager/VPN/nm-openvpn-service.name (install? NetworkManager-openvpn-1.2.0-x86_64-1_slonly.xzm @ pkgs.org)

Code: Select all

program=/usr/libexec/nm-openvpn-service
@ /usr/lib/NetworkManager/VPN/nm-vpnc-service.name (**install? NetworkManager-vpnc-1.2.0-x86_64-2_slonly.xzm @ pkgs.org)

Code: Select all

program=/usr/libexec/nm-vpnc-service
Pls Note: **requires... vpnc-r550-x86_64-1_slonly.txz @ pkgs.org

After installing the above referenced modules... @ boot I got this error...

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/NetworkManager: error while loading shared libraries: libgio-2.0.so.0: No such file or directory
-PROBLEM? :unknown:

The wrong version... I installed glib2-2.36.4-x86_64-1.xzm instead of glib2-2.46.2-x86_64-2.xzm

-SOLUTION? :unknown:

Deprecate the old version in favor of the new one.

After deprecation and reinstallation of the above referenced modules... when I ran lynx I got this error...

Code: Select all

Looking up lynx.isc.org
Unable to locate remote host lynx.isc.org.
Alert: Unable to connect to remote host.

lynx: Can't access startfile http://lynx.isc.org
I think the problem is backing up /etc/NetworkManager with a module in /mnt/~/porteus/modules. :unknown:

After adding polkit (to correct another @ boot error) and running nm-cli I got this error...

Code: Select all

Unknown username "root" in message bus configuration file
Could not get password database information for UID of current process: User "???"
Unknown or no memory to allocate password entry

Failed to start message bus: Could not get UID and GID for username "message bus"

This has been resolved for next release. Only 000 and 001 will give a working networkmanager, lynx and mc. Thanks.
How do i become super user?
