Automated Persistent Conky?

Post#1 by blue4meridian » 29 Aug 2015, 18:46

Salutations... :good:

I'm using Conky. However... I can't make it autostart or persistent... :wall:
Also the Conky manager in the menu that I installed doesn't function.

How do I resolve this problem? :unknown:

Best Regards...

for autostart in LXQT see viewtopic.php?f=132&t=4276#p30801
or viewtopic.php?f=81&t=4270
not sure what you mean by persistant? you have a module? or save changes?
for conky manager, run (executuble name) in terminal, and post the output..

In regard to persistence... everytime I click on the desktop Conky disappears... :wall:
Also everytime I logout to guest or root.

@blue4meridian:
Did you have a look at ncmprhnsbl hyperlink? From what I understood, he is the specialist for openbox which is good to know when you are under our porteus lxqt.

ah, ok, in .conkyrc you need lines like these (in the top section)

Code: Select all

own_window yes
own_window_type normal
own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
particularly the 'own_window_type' part, other possible variables, are 'conky' , 'override', which might also work
but not 'desktop'

@francois thanks for the vote of confidence :D
tho in this case blue4meridian is using compiz which (im guessing) uses emerald or its own gtk based window manager
