[SOLVED] Persistence problems

Post#1 by racer63 » 30 Aug 2013, 20:59

Hi, new to Porteus. I´ve been doing all the steps according to instructions to create and edit the append line in porteus.cfg but I can´t get persistence working. I´m using a pendrive and set the .dat file in sdb1, not in the pendrive. No error messages at boot.

Any help please?

Try using the UUID of the partition which holds your save.dat file as the cheatcode.
changes=UUID:STrING-0F-ChARACtERS/path/file.dat

You can get the UUID from the output of: blkid

Lastly, make sure you have actually created the save.dat file using the Porteus Settings Centre and that you edit the correct append line in porteus.cfg

With the UUID value I get an error message at boot. Without the UUID value, I get no error, but settings aren´t saved :wall:

Don´t know how or when, but I reverted to my first path (without the UUID value) and now is saving the changes. Thanks brokenman for your help. SOLVED.
