32bit official repo bug reports

Post#1 by brokenman » 06 Jul 2012, 14:18

Report all 32bit repo bugs such as missing dependencies here. I am about to make the first repo update after Trinity.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The kapps were removed from the repo as they conflict with the latest Trinity release.

In v1.2 Final the following packages were removed:-
  • python-2.6.6-i486-1
    pygtk-2.22.0-i486-1
    pygobject-2.26.0-i486-1
    pycairo-1.8.10-i486-1
These packages are essential for installation of Crossover - a popular Windows emulator based on Wine.
I had to download these modules from the Porteus website to get it working.
It would have been better if they were not omitted from this version.

Yes they were removed as we switched from wicd to network manager an the only directly dependent native app was wicd. Python is a bit of a loss but then again they are only a click away on the package manager. The removal allowed many other apps to be included.

Trying to build a french version of libreoffice, I was just trying to get libreoffice alien from porteus repo. I got two error messages while PPM tries to resolve dependencies:

1) jre is not a valid porteus module.
. I got it fixed by downloading openjre-7u5_b21-i486-1alien.xzm
2) openoffice-xxx-gsb.xzm (which was in my /porteus/optional folder) is not a valid porteus module. We must abort now.

Is there any bug in here?

Thanks.

Any module not converted to a porteus module via the PPM will be deemed 'not valid' as it won't contain the required /var/porteus index file. There are two options available. The next version of TDE will offer a libreoffice compiled under Porteus with patched source so it compiles. The other option in the pipeline is a stripped version of libreoffice that may be available for all versions. Will keep you updated here.
