Not sure where to post this. These are portable linux apps. They are single executables with all deps included that should run on a variety of linux flavors. Just download the executable then set it to executable (chmod +x file) and run it (./file).

might be appropriate to mention here:
the latest(2.63,soon 2.64) Blender package from blender.org works this way.

but.. coincidentally i came across this http://portablelinuxapps.org/ or http://sourceforge.net/projects/portable/files/
32 bit only.. but should work with 32compat libs..
