I have just about finished setting up the perfect portable system with all my favorite apps but just one last key thing missing.

I cant manage to get ibus or scim working,
i was wanting an input method which can handle english/bopomofo/korean... but when i install ibus i just get no input window, i tried different repositories and all the same, i tried scim but that also doesnt work.
I have tried many things already but i'm not too sure about how the system sets up the current input method.
Is this something to do with another im configured and how do i enable (preferably) ibus?

scim or the support of eastern language in porteus isn't there, you can choose the official package from slackware 13.37. and convert in xzm package.

I built from slack builds but it´s exactly the same, ibus just says "no input window" instead of listing the input methods selected. I am using 32 bit version.

Yes, scim tables is an engine which allows for allot of input methods, but this isn't the issue.
The issue is that i can't get it set as the input method for the system, either a configuration issue or a dependency missing.

Can I get this working by changing /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-keyboard-layout.conf from /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-keyboard-layout.conf ?

I just found this but i'm not sure it has to do with the problem or exactly what to change

1. font file
http://diffusion.cgu.edu.tw/ftp/modules ... ng-1.6.xzm

2. input tool
http://diffusion.cgu.edu.tw/ftp/modules ... -1.5.5.xzm

3. glibc-i18n
run "Language Selection Tool" in "System" menu, then you will get it


move all these packages to the modules directory and reboot.

Try this time with the 64-bit version of this package. This should works better.

Yes, the font file should be architecture independent (meaning it will work in either 32-bit or 64) but the gcin binary must be compiled in 64-bit in order to work on a 64-bit system. Try this module for 64-bit:
