3.2.2 & OpenOffce, WPS Office, GnomeCommander, USM

Greetings:

I have Porteus 3.1 XFCE on one USB flash riunning wps-office_9.1.0.4975~a19p1_i386.xzm and OpenOffice-4.0.1-9714.i586_en-US.xzm just fine. Just installed 3.2.2 XFCE on another flash and find that wps-office won't run. No signs or indications, just won't boot. Oddly wps-office_10.1.0.5707~a21_i386.xzm won't run in either -- at least with my set-up.

Another thing is while SpaceFM is a nice file manager it lacks the clarity and ease gnome-commander has, but when I USM gnome-commander I end up with a monster 150meg xsm gnome-commander file that still doesn't run despite downloading tons of lib* files to go with it. I think I got gnome-commander running in 3.1 or 3.0 but that knowhow memory dried up long ago.

My USM keeps alerting MISSING FILES on startup and the Salix datebase loading always crash at CHECKSUMS.md5. Slackware, Slacky and slackwarepatches download okay.

Any hints of getting wps and commander running in 3.2.2 would be grateful.

have you tried? :
http://dl.porteus.org/i586/Porteus-v3.2 ... i586-1.xzm
or is 'wps-office_10.1.0.5707~a21_i386.xzm' a typo?

i see gnome-commander needs python, sometimes usm has a problem tracking python deps...
can you try to start gnome-commander in a terminal and see what errors occur?

@ jimwg

The usm update (salix) issue is known -- choose a different mirror

gnome-commander build via USM is ~ 30MB in size
(done in 3.2.2 XFCE 32 Bit)
The bundle contains:

Code: Select all

ORBit2-2.14.19-i486-3_slonly.txz
gnome-commander-1.4.3-i486-1_slonly.txz
gnome-vfs-2.24.4-i486-4_slonly.txz

python-2.7.13-i586-2_slack14.2.txz
tcl-8.6.5-i586-2.txz

Okay, that file name's accurate and that and the linked file don't work. :(

Nothing happens. Will investigate further what is different between 3.1 and 3.2.2 that keeps the older wps xsm from running.

Super thanks will try this out! I always (used to) upload all the xsms I created to the Porteus archive site but haven't check if still exists.

Hi jimwg
regarding the (linked) wps office module -- get you the
libpng-legacy12-1.2.57-i486-1_slonly.txz [64K]
package (via USM) -- writer, spreadsheet and presentation do start then -- at least on my system..
