[SOLVED] Shutdown log file.

Is there somewhere a log file saved, where i can see the details of the shutdown messages? I can see some errors there when shutting the system down (even everything is running normal and i dont have any errors when booting the system) and would like to investigate them.

I am running Porteus 3.2.2 64bit with xfce on an lenovo x220. I already searched for a log file that maybe stores the shutdown infos, but in could not find the correct one in /var/log/.

Welcome to Porteus. Never had to worry about shutdown errors, so will have to wait for someone with more savvy in this regard. :(

Yeah, i used nearly a complete year before Porteus 3.1 32bit on a hp nx7300 and had not a single error in the shutdown sequence. On my "new" used x220 there are some now with 3.2.2 64bit. But the whole shutdown sequence is about ~3 seconds and than the computer turns off, so its hard to write down the error codes to investigate, so a log file or any other method that writes down the shutdown sequence to a .txt file would be extreme useful.

If you use the debug cheatcode, just like the system halts at regular intervals with a shell prompt during boot up, it halts once with a shell prompt during shutdown.
This maybe enough to watch the shutdown messages and investigate using the provided prompt.

Thx for your help. I used the debug cheatcode now and i am getting this results shutting down the system:

Looks like there are some more similar warnings like that before, but they "scroll out" of the screen before the debug menu stops it.

Anyone has an idea what causes this? Its a new clean 3.2.2 xfce 64bit installation with just some extra packages like gimp, chromium and pidgin installed.

Nothing to worry about here if everything is working as it should. These are clearly marked as "WARNINGS" and not errors. Warnings are not being suppressed.

Most of the output seen in your screenshot are not during shutdown. (You can see them already by pressing ctrl+alt+F1).

You are right, i just tested it out. I hope it is ok anyway, because the messages are only warnings and not errors?
