I'm on Porteus 3.2rc2 and tried to use VirtualBox but as you can see

Code: Select all

WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module
available for the current kernel (4.5.3-porteus) or it failed to
load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by

           sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup

You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.
Qt WARNING: Qt: Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
I am missing the vboxdrv kernel module. Where do I get that? Thanks in advance Bogomips. ;)

Hi fab1qaz.
Look at these modules 05-devel.xzm and probably crippled_sources.xzm for your arch

Thanks Blaze. What is arch? Do I need all 4 of these modules active?

You have the 2 modules Blaze mentioned already active. Arch = architecture x86_64.

Ahh, so devel is development stuff what is crippled_sources? I see Blaze's link has a new xzm for VirtualBox I'll try that one out.

I believe VirtualBox recently changes some of the files. I am working to update the script tonight.

That would be great, I still have the "missing kernel driver" error with

Code: Select all

VirtualBox-5.0.20-porteus-v3.2-x86_64-1prt.xzm

Sure. What version of Porteus are you using?

You should run this script as root:

I'm running into problems still with the kernel driver not being there.
