And No.

Booted LXQt, used it, closed lid, had breakfast, opened lid, blank screen again. Tried power button which ended up shutting system down.

Rebooted system hung at the signon screen. Some msg about "x1" respawning too fast and disabled for 5 mins. And yes all 4 Lid Closed Options are set to Suspend.

LXQt back into mothballs. Not ready for prime time.

Still with the same adjustments for suspend, in root mode, with changes cheatcode. Closed the lid in dual display mode. I went for a ride for two hours. Open the lid of the laptop, the screen got back as they were before suspend.

as answered previously - your suspend problem in in 99% kernel related so please swap kernel so we are sure.
if you are booting from the ISO then just point your 3rd party loader to a new kernel and use 'extramod=' cheatcode to load 000-kernel.xzm from 3.0.1 release. quite simple - 2 mins job.
please reply in your other thread about success/fail and not here.

thanks
Thanks fanthom. Did that, it didn't help. :(

Left the blank screen on for awhile while we watched TV and noticed that it would black out for a split second after an hr or so.

Code: Select all

KERNEL/PROCESSOR:
3.17.4-porteus
you are still booting original kernel.

I used the 'extramod=' cheatcode to load the 000-kernel.xzm from 3.0.1.

Code: Select all

# Modules activated during boot time:
/mnt/isoloop/porteus/base/000-kernel.xzm
/mnt/isoloop/porteus/base/001-core.xzm
/mnt/isoloop/porteus/base/002-xorg.xzm
/mnt/isoloop/porteus/base/003-lxqt.xzm
/mnt/isoloop/porteus/base/04-firefox.xzm
/mnt/sda5//porteus3.1/modnetwork/000-kernel.xzm
/mnt/sda5//porteus3.1/modnetwork/network.xzm
Maybe I need to boot the 3.0.1 ISO with the 3.1's 001-core.xzm, 002-xorg.xzm and 003-lxqt.xzm?

Beginning to sound like more than 2 mins. :)

So I happen to stumble upon ISO Master in RazorQt. So I used it to:
  • extract the 000-kernel,xzm module from the 3.0.1 RazorQt iso,
delete the 000-kernel.xzm module for the 3.1 LXQt iso,
add the 000-kernel.xzm module that I extracted to the 3.1 LXQt iso,
modified the 3rd party loader to boot the modified LXQt iso.
The booted iso was definitely different than the 3.1 iso. The text on the screen was larger and bold and the system would not connect to the wifi network. I set all four of the LXQt Lid Closed settings to Suspend, closed the window then closed the lid. I waited for the machine's lights to go out, then flash, I opened the lid, pressed a key on the keyboard, the machine's lights lite up, but the screen stayed blackl, not blank like before. alt+sysrq REISUB had no impact and I had to manually turn the machine off to reboot.

I rebooted, did the psinfo command and saved it's output to the hard drive and rebooted to RazorQt. The psinfo output link is below and I'm reasonable sure the output is not right.

BTW Each LXQT boot was in A/F mode.

answer: replace 'vmlinuz' as well.

no more shortcuts - next time you will have to read the doc or i'll ban you.
