*Solved* Unable to install Porteus Desktop 3.0.1 x64 XFCE

First, when i tried to install Porteus Desktop 3.0.1 x64 XFCE to my hard drive i got this:

Found something at drive =F0

Found something at drive =80

Extremely broken bios detected, last attempt with drive =EF

See http://www.syslinux.zytor.com/sbm (the site was/is down so there's no help from there)
Disk error 01, AX = 423D, drive EF

So broken bios? Ok, i installed old Windows XP just to try it and XP works like a charm. But now when i'm in XP and try to click Porteus-installer-for-Windows i get this message:

Installing Porteus to D:\
Make sure D: is the right partition before proceeding.

Press any key to continue, or kill this window (x) to abort...
Unsupported media

Installation failed.

Ok, so the thing is i have only one hard disk attached to motherboard and it is C: drive and installing program suggests that i'm going to install Porteus at D:\. Is it possible to change the install programs suggestion from D: to c: ?

D: is my dvd drive and i'm running IDE disk here. ( i have two more but they are not attached.)

I've also configured dvd drive to boot at first from bios but that does not help. While booting It says something about ISOLINUX and i can not read anymore because the text vanishes so quickly.

And then there's this when i load Porteus Live: I go to boot -> and click Porteus-installer-for-Linux-com, the program says:
Verifying archive integrity... All good
Uncompressing Porteus installer
Not enough space left in . (0 kb) to decompress /mnt/sr0/boot/porteus-installer-for-Linux.com(188kb)
Press return to close this window

Found the "porteus install"-Icon.

Any reason not to try 3.1?

@bean
when i load Porteus Live: I go to boot -> and click Porteus-installer-for-Linux-com
you have to copy the porteus and boot folder onto a partition and to run the
Porteus-installer-for-Linux-com inside this (copied) boot folder

If you are able to boot a porteus live-cd/usb-flash; search for the "porteus install"-Icon,
e.g. in the porteus Settings Certer, click it and follow the instructions.

From my little playing around with Porteus since v2.1, I have come to realise that a) this whole install thing is merely a word-play, and b) utterly non-essential.
Porteus is meant for usb installation (portable OS) - you probably forgot that we still need a bootloader?
i guess that all your installations were made on a hd using 3rd party GRUB.

@phhpro
sorry my friend,but it seems that you completely lost the context.

The first part was given as an explanation why it didn't work to execute
the porteus for linux.com from sr0 (D: = sr0)
thats all. :wink:

@phhpro
sorry..I'm not motivated to have this discussion.
It will lead to nothing, nor is it helpful for someone.

All one needs to put things on a USB is dd
but then you are loosing flexibility of using /rootcopy, moving modules from/to /optional. yes - we have cheatcodes for that but newbs will not know how to use them.
our current approach is the best from the worsts.
