Greetings!

I managed to turn OpenOffice (DEB) 4.1.1 into an xsm module, but it has a severe bug in that you don't see it in any menus or icons but if you click a .doc or .odt file, that will trigger it. I've troubleshooted this thing over every which way to Sunday and it's really taking way too much time out my life. I can't submit it to Porteus archive sites in this shape. Can I upload it to anyone here to check out what might be wrong? I'm not a techie but every thing you show up is a learning experience! Please regard that many are still OOo addicts!

Thanks for any assist

hi jimwg, you can, via usm build your version of openoffice,4.1.1 i think, porteus have the slackware root so better use the right repository or slackbuild to make your software

Thanks for the reply!

What I did was to unarchive all the deb files in the master 4.1.1 gz file then combined them into their like appropriate folders then turned that into a xsm archive. It's very tedious but straightforward and understandable, unlike that slackware builder act. I just want to make a OpenOffice app to upload to the Porteus archives so no newbie or surfer ever has to do all these techie tricks just to enjoy running this version OO on Porteus, which what I try to do with all my apps from Ubuntu and Mint. I'm emailing Slackware authors to ask if there's a far more easier and automated way to make a Slackware created app, much like USM wonderfully does.

The bug is probably that the .desktop files are missing (or malformed) from /usr/share/applications
