Did it work?

You need to update all and also update usm from the update menu.

FWIW ...... I had the previous version
and the package manager worked ....

So, you're saying that USM doesn't work at all?
Have you tried running it from a terminal as root...eg: usmgui....to check for error messages?

I'm running 3.0 LXDE as a frugal on an ext2 partition and not having any of the problems being posted concerning USM....I'm beginning to think the problem might be more to do with savefiles or scripts.

usmgui
click on the "Updates" button and choose "Update USM"
after its updated usm click Update all.
once that is done close USM and start it again.
It should work
