Porteus

Hi,

Is Porteus Mate on a Live USB able to save my VPN configuration?
How about for Firefox? I would like Firefox to remember my add-ons and
preferred homepage upon start up, and bookmarks of course on a Live USB.

It's a real hassle to re-configure these two each time.

You can use 'magic folders' for this purpose. Open the Porteus setting centre and click on the floppy disk button. You will then see the 'magic folders' option. Use this to save changes to a single folder. In this case your firefox folder would be $HOME/.mozilla

Do the same for wherever your VPN configuration file is stored. The other option is to boot with the changes= cheatcode (read documentation) to save all of your changes.

I'm not sure where to save the changes to VPN using 'magic folder', as I don't see anything labelled vpn file under
guest. Where would I find the VPN folder using 'magic folder'? What does it look like?

Didn't work for me.../home/guest/mozilla gave me ''you seemed to have missed an entry. Try again"

you need a "." in there
instead of: use:

Actually I never typed it in under "Source" cause it wouldn't let me,
used file system instead to place it in "Source". Left out dot whilst
typing it here. I'm in 'Always Fresh' mode, is that why I got ''you seemed to have missed an entry. Try again"
