[Solved]Porteus Wizard - which nVidia driver?

I want to build an ISO but need help with selection of the correct nVidia driver. The distro will be used primarily in the following machine, so I'd like to utilize the onboard graphics if possible:

Acer Aspire 5520
Graphics card: GeForce 8400M G

NVIDIA's website tells me that this graphics adapter is supported by the Linux driver 325.15

Please advise which of the three drivers available in the wizard should be selected.

hi dataworx,

please run 'lspci -knn' and check the pciid of your GPU. now go to this site:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_32667.html
and try to find it, if it's not there then you can use the latest driver. if it's there then you must use respective legacy driver.

Hi dataworx

Here you can see that your card is supported since Version: 100.14.09

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_disp ... 14.09.html

I would try the 173.xx driver. 8)

Thanks donald, I've installed the driver you suggested, everything's good. Great distro, blazing fast and excellent hardware detection on the machines I've tested it on.

EDIT: I've been running the Acer 5520 for a while now and the display has started deteriorating, so I have installed the 319.32 drivers to see what happens. I can't figure out how to post a screenshot here so you can see what happens to the display

EDIT 2: Seems I didn't install the 173. xx driver correctly the first time round. I've since worked out how to do it properly and it works great.
