Install to USB

Hi guys, new guy here.

I wasn't sure where to put this so if it is in the wrong place then I am so sorry.

I formated my 8Gb USB drive to the number 4 format using Gparted on another distro. I then booted Porteus 1.2 up in Vbox and let it install to the USB drive to include the boot-loader option. I transferred the USB drive to my netbook and set the BIOS to load from USB first. When it does, I get a black screen with a white blinking cursor and it just sits there.

Any Ideas what I can do to make it boot?

Thanks for the help and if I didn't give the correct information then let me know so I can correct my statement.

-John

using Gparted on another distro
I'm not sure wha the 'other distro' is but it would be better to install it directly from that distro.

Copy the contents of the Porteus ISO to the usb drive, then open a terminal and change directories 'cd' into the boot folder (on the usb drive). From there you just need to run either 'lin_start_here.sh' if you are on linux or 'win_start_here.hta if you are on windows. Then transfer the USB drive to your netbook and boot.

While installing Porteus to USB from inside vbox may be possible i wouldn't recommend it as the standard way of installing Porteus.
