Porteus V5 Suspend issue on HP pavillon dv7-3145ef

Post#16 by benjibasson » 04 Sep 2023, 11:45

Hi
I have swapoff prior the suspend.

I believe that my SATA is always getting disconnected at the same time when I suspend on porteus Linux.
Never getting disconnected on Windows Vista even when I suspend. That mean there is an issue with this laptop of the system suspend

Last time I had this issue was on a toshiba with ATI radeon hd 2600 mobility until ther release of kernel 2.6.35 witch is the first kernel with full capatibility free radeon driver.

here is the try without using swapoff.

Just before the suspend

Code: Select all

oot@porteus:/home/guest# uptime

Swap: 8191996 0 8191996

Code: Select all

Filename Type Size Used	Priority
/dev/sda4 partition	8191996 0	1

yeah, the /dev/sda4\040(deleted) means the SATA was disconnected.
Is sda an internal or an external drive?
if it's external it could be a cable issue.
Cheers!

I confirm sda and sdb are internal and I lost sda and sdb.

If I run porteus or porteux from sdc usb, I lost sda, sdb but I keep sdc

Then it could be not a mere SATA issue. Is sdc connected via eSATA or via USB(2? 3?)

Is it a PC or a notebook?

if it's a PC you can try exchanging the SATA cables. And are these connected directly to the motherboard or to some kind of external card (=more like a hub)?
Cheers!

it is a laptop. HP Pavillon dv7

sda and sdb are internal SATA because Vista

sdc is the usb key with liveUSB Porteus/Porteux. USB 2
