This thread purpose is to present a testing tool
for overlay file system and
for new version kernel that is not yet supported by AUF.


Tool of Updating the Kernel of "PorteusV3.1" to 4.14-rc
and changing to "Porteus" that is based on "overlayfs".

NAME
upkernel4.14-rc - Updating the Kernel of "Porteus v3.1"
and changing to "Porteus" that is based on "overlayfs".

SYNOPSIS
upkernel4.14-rc Porteus-ISO

DESCRIPTION
upkernel4.14-rc is the tool of updating the kernel of Porteus ISO and
changing to Porteus that is based on "overlayfs".
Updated ISO will run in the space that is constructed with "overlayfs".

NOTE:
Test version has some restrictions.
1. "activate/deactivate" command can not be used.
2. changes=/path/file.dat can not be used.
3. changes-ro can not be used.
4. changes exit can not be used.

Input Porteus-ISO is one of follows.
1) Portesu v3.1 ISO based on "aufs".
2) Portesu v3.1 ISO based on "overlayfs".
(output ISO of this command)

upkernel4.14-rc must be executed by root.

The updated ISO file will be created in a current directory.
The name of updated ISO file is UP."original ISO file name without pathe" .

The current directory,
it is necessary there is a free space more than twice the target ISO.

[updated ISO]
ISO@/boot/syslinux/initrd.xz:
..... will be updated in order to construct the running space with "overlayfs".
ISO@/boot/syslinux/vmlinuz:
..... will be updated to the kernel whose config has static linked "overlayfs" and do not have "aufs".
ISO@/porteus/XXXX.sgn:
..... will be set with a new ID.
ISO@/porteus/base/000-kernel.xzm:
..... will be updated as a pair of vmlinuz.
