*.desktop viewer/editor gtkdialog GUI

Here is a place for your projects which are not officially supported by the Porteus Team. For example: your own kernel patched with extra features; desktops not included in the standard ISO like Gnome; base modules that are different than the standard ISO, etc...

*.desktop viewer/editor gtkdialog GUI

Post#1 by bigbass » 17 Mar 2012, 21:56

Image
http://bigbass-porteus.googlecode.com/f ... 2_PORT.tgz
this only does standard desktops (done this way for those that dont want kde installed)

cleaned up code removed extra code -2_PORT

Image
if you have kde *desktops this will handle them too
http://bigbass-porteus.googlecode.com/f ... 1_PORT.tgz

rewritten of a lot of code to add kde (was a request from Ahau)
this does both kde and standard desktops all in one

some gtkdialog apps since we are moving over to more gtkdialog apps on Porteus
the picture shows what it does

if you want to edit the file click the small edit icon
you can also test how the program will launch

some tools for package /module makers

in the menu as Utilities--->desktop editor

its all gtkdialog and Xdialog so it will work 32 or 64 bit
no other dependencies

Very cool -- no need to sort through a long list of translations to find the Exec line ;) testing the Executable portion will also come in handy.

Does it also pick up the desktop files in the kde directory?
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

Hey Ahau
Does it also pick up the desktop files in the kde directory?
as was no but I added kde now it was more work because the path changes for kde *desktops
I modified the code for kde but now I have two viewers one for kde and one for the standard location
so I have to figure out a toggle button to launch the kde desktop viewer from the standard viewer

will have to put on the tin foil hat and sleep on it
and try some more tomorrow :)

Hey Ahau

thanks for the suggestion !
*I need to practice with gtkdialog so it was an exercise I'm sure it could have been done an easier way
I just didnt find the "easy way" though but it works !

kde icons working now :)
updated first post

with a new kde version

I offer two versions now
one for standard desktops (no kde installed for those that dont use kde) or want a kde dependency

and another for kde desktops and standard desktops so you get both with this package

Fine Bussiness, Bigbass, it works OTB under KDE4-32 bits, too! Useful little thing...Thanks.

Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).
