Xfce 4.18 pre2 for Porteus 5
I guess I have to wait until v5 for any chance to kill all the animations. I cannot use Mousepad or xed in particular while I need to search for a phrase in a text file larger than 1MB.
Thunar might have become even more buggy... I'm afraid to open anything in tabs, for starters. What about leaving the darned column sizes alone, as well? Thunar wants someone always irritated with it insisting in a horizontal scrollbar, blocking the bottom line of file information instead of file information like "Nautilus". Yes and "Recent", just like GNOME's program, which cannot be hidden... something else I would have never requested. This is the lousiest File Manager which is not Rox IMHO.
If the main panel had an "undo/redo" function it would be a greater enhancement than if Thunar had one. Once I mistakenly deleted a whole panel thinking it was one of the applets... a good thing I was checking out a distro that I didn't want to keep much longer.
One "improvement" that galls me is the time/date display bit on panel just like KDE Plasma. Sorry, it sucks and I don't care about XFCE any longer.

Hahaha! I agree with basically everything you say. Xfce is not going to a good direction indeed. But which DE is it, right? Long live Xfce 4.12
I'm trying to report all the bugs I'm finding to the devs. Do you mind saying which Thunar bugs you have seen?

It's crazy that they actually released it! There are heaps of known issues, including stuff like this https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/955 and this https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/927
Anyway, gonna see if I can provide a module soon.
Thanks, guys!
