So it looks like we can finally draw a line under 4.8.8 for 3.2 then, and produce the approriate drivers?

Yes it looks like 4.8.8 is working well.

This won't be changed (hence its removal from the list of things to help with). It is quite cosmetic thing and I see no point downgrading coreutils (quite an important package) just to remove the /mnt/loop being displayed in the output of df. There was a change from the older versions that inspected /etc/mtab to the newer version that inspects /proc/mounts as it is on most linux systems nowadays. Thanks for looking into it.

That's fine. I misinterpreted the cross off as meaning it was fixed in 4.8.8.
