usm-3.2

New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

brokenman wrote:Wow! You did well in tracking down the problem. It s indeed caused by code in that file. This file is created on the server (daily when automated) but at the moment I am doing it manually. I will update it tonight to resolve the problem. With rc5 release the process will be automated. Thanks.
Okay. Thank, you. I can't wait for rc5! :)

In usmgui, there is a duplicate entry for "Edit ponce mirror" in the Settings menu. The duplicate entry also points to the slackonly mirror.

Yes, and last night I had no troubles updating the databases either. Strange, but good result. :good:

When this happens you need to change the slackware mirror. I also experienced holdups today with updating USM.

Thanks brokenman.

The /etc/usm/mirrors-slackware.txt file shows the default to be:

Code: Select all

#----------------------------------------------------------------
# Slackware64-14.1
#----------------------------------------------------------------
# USE MIRRORS.SLACKWARE.COM (FINDS A NEARBY MIRROR)
# ftp://mirrors.slackware.com:/slackware/
http://mirrors.slackware.com/slackware/
# AUSTRALIA (AU)
Shouldn't we be using a Slackware64-14-2 mirror?

BTW

This one worked for me.

Code: Select all

# http://slackware.mirrorcatalogs.com/
http://slackware.mirrors.pair.com/
# ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/slackware/
# http://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/slackware/

I've emailed the maintainer of slackonly as his CHECKSUMS.md5 file is not correct. The MANIFEST file has a different md5sum to what is in the CHECKSUMS file. He says he will fix it this weekend. Thanks.

You can comment out line 280 of /usr/share/usm/funcupdateDatabase to get round the problem until he fixes it.

Thanks Jay.

I manually udated each database using the GUI which was a bit of a pain since I had to close out and restart the GUI after each update. :fool: I should have done it in terminal mode.
