How can we make Porteus better?

New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

Salutations... :good:
This was not a response to the title at all, but rather a response to your comment ...
The context of that comment referred to possible alternatives from the community such as Sensei which led to Nemesis.
The context of my response is... all my observations are simply considerations not petitions (which I avoid making... with very few exceptions now).

I all but stopped making petitions after being dissed last year's flame war because I'm not into
begging (or comedy). Which is why I'm still building a system instead of using (a stable) one.

I'm a recording engineer who is not recording because I'm
wasting time being a developer for the last year and a half.

DIY is no problem for me because I'm 30yrs self taught w/ certification.
Give me the manual for the Space Shuttle and I'll fly it. It just takes forever without help.

Many of the ideas I post I'm already using but they are unstable and crude.
I'm posting right now using my derivative. So it is not proof of concept.

Best Regards...

This is not really any recommendation to change the Porteus distro because it gives me pretty much everything I need but I started a thread here that discusses tweaks which I believe can bring Porteus to higher levels of excellence. I'd really like some input there from those who really now the inner workings of this distro.

IMHO... by considering Moore's law ... Intel's Self-fulfilling prophecy which seems to imply that today's innovation is tomorrow's legacy. (see... Planned obsolescence: Programmed obsolescence )

Therefore this presents yet another option (opportunity?)... Deprecation :unknown:
Among the most common reasons for deprecation are:

The feature has been replaced by a more powerful alternative feature.

In general English usage, the infinitive "to deprecate" means "to express disapproval of (something)".
It derives from the Latin verb deprecare, meaning "to ward off (a disaster) by prayer".

Thus, for one to state that a feature is deprecated is merely a recommendation against using it.
It is still possible to produce a program or product without heeding the deprecation.

IMHO... w/ a Deprecation of openssl in favor of libressl (see... LibreSSL: Security and vulnerabilities )

Salutations... :)

IMHO... "copy2ram" and "firewall" options in the online Porteus creator would be nice (it might even help protect grandma...)

IMHO... LXQT (or perhaps... EDE ?) w/ a Deprecation of Openbox (that uses Code bloat ed ... "GTK") in favor of PekWM (using ultra lightweight... " XCB "). :good:

IMHO... by changing the order of the "Derivative" section to match the rest of the Porteus forum's list order (recent date 1st)... :wall:

The order (by date) for Derivatives should be... "most recent derivative 1st" (eg. PuppyLinux uses this order).
Using this order would place Nemisis @ the top of the page since it is the most recent derivative.

This is good policy because most of the Derivatives are dead projects (of course they are still important for research).

Salutations... :good:

By adopting Google's Material Design (aka... Flat design ) desktop metaphor.
This metaphor is scalable by default if Scalable Vector Graphics elements (icons... panel... menu... etc.) are used

lol. This is googles idea of how design should be. It looks good and functions well. I quite like it but I fail to see how it can be used to improve Porteus.
How do i become super user?

This is the name of the GUI design approach that papyrOS uses. It's Googles take on what Freedesktop.org strives to do. :unknown:
