[Insolvable] Firefox and Adobe flash player plugin

My "flashplayer-plugin-11.2.202.481-i386-1alien.xzm" is block by Firefox because Firefox is outdated. Is it going to be updated soon or what do I need to do?

Wait, did you just said Firefox is outdated??? And it says "I'm too old for this flash chick... Leave, young child of Adobe! Live your life! Old fart like me is no match for your youth... *cough* *cough* *gaaaaaaaasp* *dead* :%) "
Then I don't know.

I'm saying Firefox is outdated.

I'm old and about dead in fact I should be dead by now cause no men live past 64 and I'm 67.

Are you still using Porteus 2.1 as states your user info? Is it unchanged since the day installed?
Even if it's this way, Porteus 2.1 used browsers as separate modules too.
You could look in http://dl.porteus.org/i486/for newer browser modules or search forum for even newer builds. Probably they would work with 1,5 year old Porteus.

You'd need to move temporarily your 04-firefox.xzm module to another folder and place into /porteus/base some from another release of Porteus to see if it works.
http://dl.porteus.org/i486/current/modules/
http://dl.porteus.org/i486/archive/Port ... 0/modules/
http://dl.porteus.org/i486/archive/Port ... 1/modules/

Don't worry, if you have anything to confess you'll live half more than you already did. Like Oskar Groening, 'book-keeper of Auschwitz' who's over 90.

I wonder if there are viruses imitating outdated browser.
Could you please provide screenshot with message where Firefox identifies itself as outdated (and blocks flash for this reason)?

Someone had similar issue. Take a look if this may help you:

Flash is marked as outdated by Mozilla.

Read here:

Vulnerabilities should be covered by version 491 so just grab it from Alien's repo (manually if USM still does not work):

An interesting option. But how does one convert the alien .tar.gz file into an .xzm file?

O ye who have no faith in ztrapl's module, offered earlier,

Code: Select all

mkdir alien
tar xzf alien.tar.gz -C alien
dir2xzm alien alien.xzm
should do the trick. 8)

or as usual (with slackbuilds)
copy the files "SlackBuild, *.tar.gz, slack-desc" in a Folder.
open a root terminal > cd into that Folder > chmod +x flashplayer-plugin.SlackBuild >
./flashplayer-plugin.SlackBuild > enter..done
The new files are in /tmp
convert the *txz to *xzm

Thank you guys. :friends:

Last time I looked the module wasn't for x86-64 systems.

Ah yes, must include the slack-desc file else the SlackBuild errors out on line 314. It took me awhile to find that stupid file.
