Network file naming

New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

You remove that link of yours that has nothing with this thread and which seems undoubtly spam. Default from complying will result in banning of the porteus forum.
You're a mod francois can't you edit the posting? If not you should FAA the thread so an admin can. And if this posting was spam, what about his other 5 posts?

It should be noted that even with the link removed the posting is a still repeat of yours previously. Basically the posting and most of the following ones should be removed, imo.

In fact, as he was not spamming systematically across his posts, I thought that he could explain himself before I proceed with a ban.

Rereading his posts, it does not seem to be a spambot as some replies are really interventions. However, other interventions do not fit.

I have removed the offending hyperlinks and exhorted that he explain himself thru email. Meanwhile I will seize his assets.

He is banned for 7 days. If he does not anwer, the banning will become permanent.

Actually old style spamming technique. Post what appears to be meaningful comments, usually dupes of others, let them age for a few days, or weeks, so they have other posts after them and they kinda go out of site, then edit them with spam links and chances are they won't be seen by mods. Effective on boards that let members edit their postings indefinitely.

Another variation is after the postings have aged to edit their signature to include a spam link. It then shows up in all their phony postings.

Wonder how many other spammers have posted here using these techniques. Usually when one does others find out and do it also.

And what is your advice on the file naming issue?

Banned from posting or banned from signing on? If he can sign on he can spam his signature.
If he does not anwer, the banning will become permanent.
If he is a spammer he will not respond, he will simply create a new email address and a new Porteus id and continue with what he was doing. Check the IP address of his posts and see if any new ids use it or the same domain also.

I should have read it on your site. Isn't debian a little heavy? What about arch linux? I would appreciate your opinion on this one. :)

Oh I suspect he was referring to the right hand column of his posting where it says
under his user id "Distribution: Debian". :)

Well he did say:

which would indicate he meant extra effort was not needed. :)

What do you think about archlinux and its more easily accessed derivatives?
