Hello;
I'm a fan of porteus. it is a good tool for a sysadmin and has all the toys ones need to set a system and enjoy it. but I like to try porteus with desktop. It is very nice if you add E17 to list of available desktops in your image builder page.
But in the meantime I was looking for any material to tell me how to cook my own Porteus with E17 and couple of tweaks.

Have you tried the Porteus RazorQT desktop?

Yes; I tried it on several linux distros of course. I was one of the first wave of people when it came to life to use it. but I prefer E17.
it would be nice if I could build my own porteus .img (usb image) file or iso file.

Porteus devs are stretched to the limit at the moment. This would need to be added firstly as a community project and if it sticks it could be adopted.

Assuming you are currently booting into lxde.
1) Create slackware package of E17 and convert to a porteus module (txz2xzm).
2) Place module in optional folder and use load=e17 noload=lxde 3 in order to boot into your E17 desktop in text mode.
3) Run startx 2>/tmp/dump.log and if desktop fails check the logs for what deps you are missing.
4) Add deps and start again.

Best of luck.

I have tried e17 or e16 via USM and it started but for me much better is lxde made by Porteus developers.

And what can one say about lxqt that will replace razor and lxde. Really good looking, see:
