requests

On another Linux operating system that I use whenever there is a port-scanning attack the firewall alerts the user. They are then given the option of blacklisting the IP address of the attacker. This is what Porteus needs to have. It should also allow the user the option of having it blacklisted automatically.

In the KDE4 settings there is an option to disable this automatic login but that doesn't work if you boot to Xfce. The Porteus Settings Centre is the place where users should be able to enable/disable auto login. There should also be somewhere where new user accounts can be added.

Xfce badly needs a Start-menu editor. Normally you right-click the Start menu to get it.

Hi dacq
port-scanning is not an attack per se, and if you are behind a Router, it's the
Router which is being scanned.Make the adjustments there.
Blacklisting every IP from where you were scanned will shortly be a very huge List.
There is nothing to fear,at this stage,if the Ports are closed.

To prevent autologin in Xfce use the login= cheatcode
Please take a look at /boot/docs/cheatcodes.txt

Here are some options: http://slackbuilds.org/result/?search=firewall&sv=14.1

Which do you prefer?

donald, "login=user_name" only lets you enable auto-log-in, not to stop it.

, yes, that's what I'm looking for, an intrusion detection system that does what I mentioned.

Another request: in the PSC there should be a button to enter super-user terminal, since you've already typed in your password.

@dacq
Please read /boot/docs/cheatcode.txt
You should use login=...and no username
From cheatcode.txt:
If username is not provided then booting stops on the login screen.

Thanks, I'll add it to my todo list.
