deadbeef-0.7.2-i486-bundle.xzm ( size 3.2 MB )

Deadbeef is a highly configurable audio player which (imho)
looks and sounds much better than "audacious".

Deadbeef is listed in menu. GUI is missing in V3.1-XFCE. Terminal indicated all libraries are there and starting db 0.7.2.

Nothing happens. Play command repeats the message, 'starting db-0.7.2'. Not playing the source song. Stop,quit commands also are not working. Help says, default GUI is GTK 2.

Weeks ago, when I was trying with v3.2.2-XFCE, I failed to get certain applications started, which work fine in v3.1,including many Porteus script applications, where password message box will not appear, preventing root access.

Means, GTK gui for x11, not working for some apps. GDK,GTK libraries are (2 and3) there.

Any solutions? may solve many 'GTK dialogues' face offs.

will this help?

Code: Select all

gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders-32 > /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache
Please also list ldd startxfce4, in v3.2.2. 32 bit (not connected with this).

Hello raja

Bad news...3.1 is too old...won't work.
If you want to take a look at the disaster, try deadbeef --gui in terminal.

Try an older version of deadbeef
https://sourceforge.net/projects/deadbeef/files/

regarding your 2nd question
ldd /usr/bin/startxfce4 ==> not a dynamic executable

Donald,

Good news is Deadbeef -0.7.2.2 is running just now in Porteus v3.1.

I went through program update history and found GTK UI was a problem and fixes were made.
May be you complied with only 'GTK 3" support for GUI.

The program is made to be compatible with older versions of GTK. I got the static version from Sourgeforge.
Under Plugins, I notice, the program has automatically selected 'GTK2 UI' and converter GTK2 UI loaded.

Porteus V3.2.2 may have some such small hiccups, and that is why it is not running in my Laptop, which has no problem in loading a Debian Stretch stripped down version OS with Kernel 4.7 PAE, latest core libraries, XORG 1.19 and Deepin desktop and our Neko's latest 'Aporteus' with all the new packages.

I am trying to catch that 'fellow' in v3.2.2. The machine is not the problem.

Great..

Yes, the static package includes everything, but it is also more than twice as big.
My (smaller) package was made to run with current porteus --
without regard for earlier versions.

...enjoy this little player...

cheers

@donald
Thank you for your package information.
It was introduced into APorteus.

Thanks.
