If you own the appropriate nvidia card/onboard chip, this one is for you.
-- check the list (supported products) --
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverRe ... 3709/en-us
(this list seems not to be 100% accurate because the mentioned
gtx 560 ti needs a 340.xx driver)

This driver update did not need to be patched to work.

I had it running in porteus 3.2.2 (kernel 4.9) - XFCE,KDE and LXDE
Please let me know if it doesn't work for you.

UPDATE

....If your PC has little RAM...

Same driver; built without the 32 Bit libraries.
The help- and man files were not stripped off.
Much smaller module ~ 30MB, the "full" module is ~ 55MB in size.

For which Kernel is this driver compiled for?

I would be happy to have one for 4.0rc5 x86-64. Sadly blaze told me the driver wont compile for newer Linux kernel.

As I said in the first post.
> I had it running in porteus 3.2.2 (kernel 4.9) - XFCE,KDE and LXDE < ;)

I can compile the 304.137 driver up to kernel 4.14.4 using a patched *.run file.
Unfortunately I have not found any patches for newer kernels until now.

Kernel 4.14.4 is used in these complete isos
--made by brokenman if i'm not mistaken--
http://dl.porteus.org/x86_64/testing/Porteus-v4.0rc1/
maybe the driver will also compile with other 4.14 kernels (not tested)
but definately not with 4.15 kernels without further patching. :(

Maybe put that at the beginning of the post, and not into the last line. For which kernel a GPU driver is compiled for is the main info, aside from the GPU driver version, IMHO.

Where did you get these patches?

That was what blaze also told me. I have not visited the nvidia forums in ages, but there should be a solution for compiling nvidia drivers for the recent Linux kernel. What good would be having GPU driver *.run files for Linux if the recent kernel not gets supported.

Donald, you rock! Thank you very much!

Is there a better way than GLX-Gears to compare the performance of some of my NVidia systems with and without that driver? What do you folks think of GL Mark 2?

Nice job, donald! I'll try to create a 340.xx soon :) Let's hope we won't update Porteus 4 kernel until the final release

Sadly finale Version seems to be 4.16.3. I for now only tested the Xfce ISO but I presume the other DEs will all have the same kernel.
Will we get Nvidia drivers for that soon?
