[SOLVED] trouble compiling Virtualbox

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble compiling Virtualbox with Vbox Builder. I don't know why, it says that vboxdrv.sh: failed: modprobe vboxdrv failed... Can someone help me solve this issue? Sharing the module could also solve temporarily the issue (at lest until it gets outdated).

Thanks,

Regards.

I'm having problems too.

francois, unfortunately VirtualBox must be compiled with the same Linux kernel you'll use, and since Lucas didn't specify what kernel version he's using, it's improbable that it'll work. Also, the new VirtualBox version is 5.1.20.

Hi Fulalas and Francois,

I'm downloading it right now, and will give it a try. I have some observations that I will point at, since it can help to solve other people problems too. I don't know why my Porteus is giving a black screen after loading my modules when I try to load the devel module while booting (maybe this is the problem). What I tried to do is to load it after KDE or LXDE is already good and running.

I will report soon,

Thanks,

Lucas.

Hi everyone,

I did manage to make it work. First, after talking to you my Porteus started giving an error after loading the modules. It said that was configuring vboxdrv.sh so I went into a base copy to ram and downloaded/activated the most new kernel, vmlinuz, crippled_resources and devel (http://dl.porteus.org/x86_64/kernel/porteus-4.9.12/). I compiled it while in base, copy to ram. After that I moved it from tmp ( in live) to modules folder. It worked. You can find the module below:

Thanks a lot,

Great! :D

Mark this thread solved. A succinct summary of the procedure would be good for newcomers.
