Bear in mind that Mpv has a really minimalist GUI. I don't recommend using it. Instead, I use SMPlayer as the frontend and Mpv as the video engine-player. I prefer Mpv over MPlayer because Mpv has synchronization between FPS and refresh rate, which avoid stuttering (more about this subject here).

Also, try to run Mpv inside the console and check for any errors. ;)

The problem with Linux is that is has endless scenarios, so it's almost impossible to predict everything. On one hand this means freedom and power, on the other it means total chaos :D

I'm using LXQt as the main DE. But I usually don't keep devel.xzm neither crippled_sources.xzm activated. If you're experiencing errors, I have almost 100% certainty that it is related to missing dependencies.

Anyway, if you want to try the minimalist Mpv GUI, type this on a console:
