Evan, do you use compat libraries (multilib)?
compat32-libraries-3.0-x86_64-1sl.xzm
Linux porteus 4.12.7-porteus #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Aug 13 17:38:30 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

That's my experience, with the one found here: viewtopic.php?f=131&t=6628&p=52909 But have you tried entering "wine" on a command line?

As Blaze said, you need multilib. But the reason I must confess I don't know, once multilib is supposed to be needed only to execute 32bits apps inside a 64bits system. :unknown:

Multilib is usually a huge bazooka (360mb compressed) containing almost every 32bits lib in the world. If you want I made a small multilib package (41mb compressed) with the basic stuff that are enough for running the most common Windows apps. :good:

HUH! Image

Not sure how we got onto running 32 bit apps when Wine itself doesn't work. :)

Glad it's not just me , Wine from command says No such command.

Forgot to mention this is with a fresh ISO install so it's not like i could have corrupt something with the files system

wine -> 32bits
wine64 -> 64bits

If you want to run 64bits Windows apps, just go to a terminal and type:

Code: Select all

wine64 /path/app.exe
If you want to run 32bits Windows apps, activate multilib, go to a terminal and type:

Code: Select all

wine /path/app.exe
And if you figure out why winecfg needs multilib, I accept the explanation. :D

LOL , if you're both telling me that Wine64 needs 32 bit libraries for it's menu to work then something is seriously wrong with WineHQ's idea of coding a 64 bit app. :D

I'll try wine64 /path/app.exe when i get a chance as i want to get Nvidia fixed first , unless someone else can try it in the meantime to confirm it's working apart from the menu.

I agree, hahaha!

But it's working here flawlessly. It's a matter of finding the missing dependencies or something like that. :good:

I apologize, I'm polluting this thread but the version of wine that I linked to earlier runs Windows 32 bit games with no multilib module added. It just doesn't play the 64-bit versions, even with a wine64 command, and this is the 64-bit section of the forum. :sorry:

Sorry fulalas, I will bug out.

Newsbin Professional Download
http://www.newsbin.com/freetrial.php

wine64 /home/guest/Downloads/nb672-install.exe

Wine had to install .net and a couple of other files but then it still refuses to work.

/lib/ld-linux.so.2: could not open

People on the newsbin forum are using Wine to run newsbin just by right clicking on the exe and choosing wine to open it , i tried that and nothing happens.

Newsbin is supposed to be 64bit but when i get a chance i'll try again with those 32 bit libraries that Blaze posted , i'm pushed for time at the moment.

Hi Evan.
You can try wine-1.9.16-x64-3.2-GeckoMono-1.xzm or http://bear.alienbase.nl/mirrors/slackware-live/bonus/

Code: Select all

	0050-multilib-current-x86_64.sxz	2017-01-27 11:30 	366M
	0060-wine-1.9.23-current-x86_64.sxz	2016-12-10 12:09 	204M
rename .sxz to .xzm and activate these modules.
