Is that a bug in the nemo module or in the xfce module?

Code: Select all
root@porteus:/# file /usr/share/icons/elementary-xfce/status/48/image-missing.png
/usr/share/icons/elementary-xfce/status/48/image-missing.png: PNG image data, 48 x 48, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced
file reports the image file as okay, and my image viewer can view it just fine.

Is it possible to switch off its behaviour to look in every folder to tell me how many objects (files & folders)
are in each of the folders that is currently displayed?
When you have a folder with many sub-folders and these have many files in them, it takes a while and is a strain on the system (since nemo looks into every singe folder), and also, in my book, unneeded,

For now, a web search gave me this general tutorial on tweaking nemo
https://itsfoss.com/nemo-tweaks/ and it not mentions my issue.
Probably it can be done, but maybe only via a setup file and not via its settings menu/window ?

I found a severe but (at least I think it is)
According to the above linked tut, when you select more than one file and click in the context menu on "rename" you get a window similar to the rename thingy of thunar:
(screenshot as found on
https://itsfoss.com/nemo-tweaks/ )
but alas! Instead, nothing happens!
Since I started nemo from the main XfcE menu and not via a terminal, I do not see any possible error messages.
I very much hope that this can easily and quick be fixed! Pretty please...

Update
I now exited and started nemo from the guest terminal.
At startup I see these errors
Code: Select all
** (nemo:25265): WARNING **: 04:28:21.095: Current gtk theme is not known to have nemo support (Adwaita-dark) - checking...
** (nemo:25265): WARNING **: 04:28:21.348: The theme appears to have no nemo support. Adding some...
but when selecting "rename" on several files, nothing happens in the terminal.
Is that an option that now must first be activated in its settings?
(the above tut said nothing about that, or maybe i missed it)
Added in 7 minutes 34 seconds:
I looked into its settings, and there in tab behaviour at the very bottom is this:
Funny, now I can put
in there,
but the nemo settings says nothing how the parameters should be handled in that input area.. (Thunar tells us this in its settings, like what is used to represent the files, what represents the current folder etcetera)
But it seems, just putting
is sufficient, nemo gave the filenames to the thunar bulk renamer.

Can nemo be told to sort hidden files as first files in a folder and not at the very end?
All other file managers sort these files at the top, but nemo does not.

And one final question/issue (I hope)
Where does nemo store its settings?
Since I use no changes but use my 999-rootcopy.xzm module half-auto-generated.
