Errm, the idea is old. I got it from another distro while listening to the frostcasts. In fact many other distros offer this. I think we could implement it complete with dep resolution.
Yes , I have proposed this idea for our Porteus.

@Hamza
"Now , this link : http://porteus.org/docs.html works fine"
thanks.

my wish list:
1) remove Twitter link from main page as seems that Porteus account on Twitter is deleted:
http://twitter.com/porteus_project
2) link youtube Porteus channel instead of Twitter
3) fill out porteus video section
http://porteus.org/info/porteus-video-tutorials.html
with these uploaded on youtube - we have 9 in porteus channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/porteusOS
and 4 in my one:
http://www.youtube.com/user/fanthom0
(you can skip LLS comparison as slax-remix was used that time)
4) porteus video tutorials
http://porteus.org/info/docs/46-video/1 ... rials.html
should have tutorials only, demonstration videos could be removed. also main field should be bigger than 20% of the page size.
5) screenshots:
http://porteus.org/info/screens/category/2-lxde.html
are simply too small - any chance to get them in native resolution?
6) Porteus logo on the main page: 'PORTABLE LINUX COMMUNITY" is not visible and should have navy blue color rather than light blue (violet?). also the waves should be smooth like on the forum page and not angular (not sure if it's a correct english word).

This is it for now :)

I don't understand. If it's for graphics design , please tell brokenman for this.

I came across this while messing around lxde.org's site. I think we need to add Porteus to this list. I am not to familiar modifying wiki's. So if anyone could get that up and working it is another area where people would be able to discover Porteus.

@Hamza Thanks for taking care of that. Is it not possible to get our logo up there too?

I would recommend having an IRC channel instead of the mini-chat. Most Free/OpenSource projects use IRC (often irc.freenode.net). I would suggest #porteus on freenode.

In place of the mini-chat you could use an embedded IRC client such as qwebirc.
http://www.qwebirc.org/

As an example, Hak5 uses qwebirc on their website to link to their IRC channel.
http://hak5.org/chat

Try this: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=porteus&uio=d4
<iframe src="http://webchat.freenode.net?channels=porteus&uio=d4" width="647" height="400"></iframe>

It seems that #porteus has already been registered by the user XDS2010. I have registered ##porteus for us.

Freenode will allow us to reclaim #porteus if the primary contact for the project registers the group.

If it works, please say it is NOT an official channel.

It would be nice to have an hyperlink to the general site of Porteus, just next to the FAQ and Mini-chat at top left of the forum page. Thus, for example permitting to get the last version of porteus in one click instead of having to get the link otherwise.

Thanks.
