What's your favorite file manager?

Post#16 by wread » 11 Oct 2017, 12:04

Does anybody use 7zFM??
What is the feature that made it appear in Porteus???
I have not erased it because it is small and it is not worthwhile :(

Cheers!

Engrampa can't handle some file types, so I imagine that this is the reason we still have 7zFM inside 002-xorg.

Are you talking about the p7zip package or the binary 7zFM that is a part of that package?
How do i become super user?

Then I guess the p7zip packages can unzip zip files with other file managers or as plugin from arch, or am I wrong???

7zFM is kind of an anachronismus in Porteus :%)

It's Nemo, but to be honest, can't be bothered to point and click and point and click ..., even though it's there on the task bar minimized. Normally just using ls, find, grep and tab completion does the trick. Only use fm as last resort on partition where can't remember directory structure and/or when need to get visuals of the filesystem. Don't really remember when fm last used, maybe two weeks ago or three weeks ago. :)

@n0ctilucient
Now I have Pekwm up running three file managers, mc, 7zFM and xfe, chromium browser, google-earth, geany IDE and 05-devel, alsamixer. Installed toolkits fltk and fox only. I like it! :)

It is little and fast!

I found out how to set the xkb to us intl variant! That way you can use accented vowels, ñ, etc..
You must add to your start script the line:

"setxkbmap -rules evdev -model evdev -layout us -variant altgr-intl" (without the quotes!)

then to write a-accent you must press right-alt a, so á...finally I can also write coño! in Pekwm!

@n0ctilucient
I just finished a conference on Skype, using Pekwm and 08-skype.xzm (works ootb), with video camera and everything!
Up to now It seems to me that xfe full-fills the necessary FM functions, then I havn't felt the need to search for another file manager..

Regards!
