Lubuntu next vs Porteus updated

I'm playing around with Steam on Linux and I noticed that performance on Windows is waaay better when running Porteus 2. So I suspected that maybe my Porteus updated (xorg 1.19.3 + mesa 17.1.0 + lxqt) could be the problem. Then I decided to go to the Linux distro that Steam officially gives support: Ubuntu. Or, more specifically, Lubuntu Next. Of course Portal 2 doesn't work there, because... Well, just because! It's Linux, right? Serious, it's unbelievable how inconsistent are apps running on Linux. And to give more support on this claim, I decided to run glmark benchmark on both distros. Here are the results on my Kaby Lake Pentium G4560 3.5 GHz + 8 gb DDR4 2133 MHz single channel + internal graphics card (tip: Porteus wins by 30%):

I'm guessing you was either running Lubuntu from a Hardrive or a VirtualBox and porteus was running in Ram for the higher in out speed?

@Blaze, you have a discrete graphics card. It's an unfair comparison. :P Or maybe you can run on Lubuntu too. :good:

Come to think of it didn't Ivan do a Porteus steam version , not sure if that has been optimised in any way?

Not really. The ISO has currently 1.2 gb, with just a browser and LibreOffice. Pure piece of sh** :D

I don't think Ivan custom Porteus has any optimization. The problem, if I could guess, is related to graphics driver. I'm trying to test Lubuntu 32bit to isolate the multilib factor. But current Lubuntu Next 32bit doesn't provide wifi support -- in fact, no nm-applet available :( Linux is something that if you could explain to your sons they wouldn't believe, hahaha!

I updated Mesa to 17.1.2, but it does not help to get more score in my case
