Porteus provides the fastest Kodi experience on linux and Windows from what I can judge. :)

You are right. But the response is faster with porteus than with ubuntu. In addition, you cannot hope getting acces to files easily without a multihoster :)

With kodi you get all the multimedia organised by one program. And from the multimedia center on a computer you can relay to other devices.

I appreciate the DNLA feature of kodi. My problem is that I am not able to get it going right for porteus. I have to resort to kubuntu to be able to access my film server on computer to my LG smart TV. :(

Maybe cttan has done that.

I agree completely. That's why I use SMPlayer + Mpv ;)

But Kodi was the first Linux video player to support perfect FPS/refresh rate playback, which means no stutter at all. Luckily Mpv followed the same approach :D

My internet service provider blocks certain sites to prevent the execution of kodi addons to tv stations that are part of paid packages. They do this in one geographical area and when I get to another area, I get the access. The TV offer here in Montreal is uninteresting and completely unmatching the needs of the clientèle.

Tv service providers offers hundred of stations in their package that are completely uninteresting. I would like to have access per TV station at a reasonable rate. It is impossible to get access to american TV legally in Canada, unless you have a very good over the air antenna, which I am still working on.

expressvpn who pretens to be full VPN will not permit access to US TV content as I can understand from my testing. I imagine that you need a VPN from outside US to do that.

Added a link on VPN for Kodi in first post.

Do you use VPN with Kodi? Do you find any advantages?

Developers of the popular Kodi plug-in Navi-X have pulled the plug on further development, citing the "current legal climate" around its work.

The absence of Navi-X will make it more difficult to find streams without paying for them - at least temporarily.

Kodi's community managers have asked users to grass up pirate vendors for the sake of the platform.

It's the USM............

Not sure what is going on with the USM but it's been steadily getting worse over the last couple of months that even the stable hosts like Alien Bob have started giving Errors that there are no such files... :(

yet you can download the files directly from him using your web browser so they do exist.
