fsck cheatcode and checking save.dat

I like fsck cheatcode- it checks all linux partitions at bootup. However, I do not think it checks save.dat file. How does one check save.dat file for errors?

save.dat is formatted with xfs. this fs has one nice feature (among others) - it does fsck automatically during mounting, no extra action is required.
in case of serious corruption you can use 'porteus save.dat manager' from Kmenu and try to repair .dat container.

That is very reassuring; I always wondered how to regularly check save.dat file.
