Think the real challenge: to live the way of the 'warrior' (think it was Don Juan who said it) is to be conscious to live in the present moment and to live in it. :wall:

Oh!
the way of the 'warrior'

Thanks for the precision. I always thought this was from Bruce Lee. :)

Tomorrow is a Mystery
Today is a Gift
So let's open the Present!

Yesterday was a pain in the =@ . Tomorrow, I appraise to be a pain in the =@ too. So, I rather suffer in the present only. :D

Knowledge, to be smart, is a gift and a curse.
In my humble opinion, Knowledge is a path driven by the thirst for truth and wisdom, guided by the observation, study and the development of a growing wise criteria and good judgment based on this ongoing experience. Probably is a never ending road.

I read a lot, but not from mainstream media but from local authors and independent journalists, and I use ancient and modern philosophers' point of view combined with my gained knowledge and experience in my life to analyse if something can be true or false. And finally, in key issues, I trial and error with myself, I have risked my life many times, but the knowledge gained in that way is worthwhile in my quest to truth.

Some of these fools that seem to be so happy are this way because they are in the present moment. However, the problem could be that they are not aware that they are so happy because they are living the person moment.

To be aware of to be not aware, that is the question. 8)
Key point Francois. Awareness is perception. True and enlightened perception can not be achieved in presence of lies (mainstream media and formal education), drugs, either street drugs or medical drugs, toxins, malnutrition and blockade of sensory channels either physical or emotional. And this is much a personal choice: am I willing to know the true or I rather be living in a sea of comfortable lies?

Living in present moment is fine, but without a future goal and plan is like fighting against a storm without not knowing where to head the ship, a typhoon or reefs might stalk. The slavers do not want us to plan for our future, so their evil plans for us do not fail.

For concept mapping (non-linear, 2D) I recommend VUE.jar (Visual Understanding Environment). I haven't tested it on Porteus yet.

Truth might be disappointing but grounds, provides a firm base to move from. Ignorance is much more dangerous than truth in the long run.
I sometimes read and listen to a podcast from SOTT.net. Gurdjieff's teachings are useful. I enjoy changing and tweaking my understanding of myself and my environment, there is a sweet inner tickling when entertaining extremely different viewpoints and ideas.

Pulls back to the solid foundation of reality (as opposed to illusions, beliefs, wishful thinking, ignoring the uncomfortable, living in a dreamworld).
Like when electric charge is grounded, connected to the ground, earthed. Helping to have both feet on the ground (practical, pragmatic). To become grounded in reality.

Just caught it. What you mean is to be grounded or the be there really with your senses focused on what is going around and not in your head not connected to the here in now. :)

yupp :)

on mind mapping: I've also experimented with Inkscape (vector graphics)

with it's layers, zooming, hyperlinks, direct rendering by web browsers, animations, I think the most portable and cross-platform and future-proof and maybe even most versatile tool for mind mapping (or concept mapping or presentation or publishing) is .svg

(dynamic .svg via javascript might be the future of some type of websites too)

one of the best ways i ever found to "relate" to the human race? to understand why some things are like they are?

learning about "dog pack" behavior, lol... seriously...

we humans are just social mammals, thats all, nothing more and certainly nothing less.

we share our behavior and urges with dog packs and primate groups, LMAO...

================================

approaching 50 years on this planet? i understand that religion and philosophy, are up against HUMAN NATURE

human nature can be GOOD, it can be BAD. It can be sometimes changed, and sometimes influenced. Its JUST like dealing with a pack of dogs... honestly.

=============================

but... "most" people have to be "on board" with how they live their lives and raise their children, or, its pointless.

which leads me to my final conclusion...

"it is what it is"

In my humble opinion some humans are social and others are not. I was very uncomfortable with the idea of being a "mammal" until one day, in my long quest for the Truth I discovered that I am not an animal, I am not a body, but an spiritual being, eternal and immortal. For me this is not a matter of blind faith, but a matter of certainty, a fact. And if before that landmark I was uncomfortable, after that I was really pissed to live in a world with some people (5-10%) with total lack of respect for their fellow brothers, they treat the rest of us like if we were animals and if they have the right to butcher the rest of us.

Sorry if I get bitter, but the world is not a very friendly place due to the wicked "dialectical materialism" its predecessors and their later eyesores.

"it is what it is" until we realize our true nature and that we can do something to change the world for the better.
