hello i recently have had a problem with my porteus LXDE 3.0 where after half an hour of usage my External HDD turns itself off. then i have to force shut down and restart, is there a way to fix this?

before this started happening i had to force shutdown because it freezed.

i was thinking it could be a corrupt save time because if i put my External HDD in my Windows PC to file transfer everything works fine. will i need to make a new porteus save because i dont want to loose my data

It seems that it would have to do with your external hdd. It could vary from one hdd to another. The linux command to help you is sdparm, see:

Code: Select all

sdparm --clear=STANDBY /dev/sdc -S
I am not on porteus right now. Just try it. If it is not on porteus, download the slackware package and convert it to an xzm module. It might be available thru usm package manager. It is available. :)
