win 7 in virtualbox

I have installed windows 7 in virtualbox on a z930 toshiba laptop (64bit two years old laptop). I intend maybe to keep it that way instead of running windows into a real partition. I was wondering if some of you have some impressions favourable or not about working with such an installation. Your comments are appreciated.

Yet it worked quite fine on my toshiba z930 satelite laptop. The response time is fast enough.

Except that there is no sound. There is a proposition to install realtek audio driver:
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14155
download AC97 drivers from realtek website
I have tried the download of AC97 for Vista/Win7 (32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file):
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downlo ... Down=false

The process of installing AC97 would abort with a message stating that this is not a valid file.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Maybe a bad download? Try downloading it again.

Did you download it to the virtual machine or to Porteus?

No francois, I'm not that sophisticated. I still duel boot between Porteus and Windows 7.

Finally, just after rebooting or after the installation of different windows update, the sound came in with the audio high definition audio driver. The realtek video driver did not seem to install.

The sound gets choppy by moments when I listen to sting shape of my heart. This is more apparent when I am working on other sites than youtube.

Is there some adjstment to the system settings of virtual box that could make the windows guest more performing?
