Interesting article talking about the fusion of the capacities and features of razor and lxde into lxde. The next razor edition would be the last one.

more info + screens on lxde blog:

seems that people are exciting about switching to Qt and merging with the Razor project. wondering how guys (brokenman and Ahau) will deal with that :)
looks like there will be one DE less for next porteus release. or maybe one of the guys could pick up something else like Enlightenment or Openbox?
time will tell :)

btw: what would be your preference in case we decide to maintain extra DE? or maybe 4 desktops is enough?

Openbox is really an interesting candidate. :D

I agree a light weight openbox version would be the next best option if Razor merges with lxde.

Sounds very interesting. I propose a cage match between myself and Brokenman

I agree about openbox, I think it matches the Porteus philosophy and there's been a bit of interest expressed in it already. I'd be willing to take it on or continue with LXDE/LXDE-QT, whatever makes sense when the time comes. Enlightenment is a solid desktop with lots and lots of features, but it is not as clean or intuitive in my opinion, and would be larger as well.

bbut..what about Gnome3, i've heard it is the optimal user interface
no need to answer that ..
openbox is handy, some more extreme? suggestions: awesome , i3 , wmfs and i think theres a nice porteus fvwm already in existence...

I would also like to see awesome ( Awesome (window manager ) running with Porteus...

Is there any tutorial of how to set up such stuff?
I know, in the past some folks managed to have some minimal Window managers compiled, configured and running successfully with Porteus...

And then the winner will face GSP: Georges St-Pierre. I imagine that you know Georges St-Pierre (this guy is really serious) :

He is from Québec, not too far from Montréal :D :
Georges St-Pierre

From now on GSP has been mentioned on linux.

I always liked openbox as well. I had a lot of fun on it in crunchbang. :D

Cheers All!

Hell. I'm taking a dive in the first round of this cage fight and Ahau can handle George. He's got muscles in places I don't even have places!

yeah, crunchbang is THE openbox distro

I really appreciate distros that give some TLC to WMs

even though WM users are usually minimalists who are profecient technically and like to set things up manually because they know what they want

distros like #! give newbies a chance to experience the awesomeness of WMs easily

Salix has a fluxbox and even a ratpoison edition (<--I'm pretty sure that's unique to salix :))

would be super cool to see porteus do the same. it does so brilliantly with KDE and razor and the rest...a WM porteus would just fly on old machines xD
